Dining in Grayton Beach Area

If you follow us, you will soon realize that one of our favorite things is good food. While we consider ourselves as foodies, we probably do more cooking in when we travel than eating out. Below are some of our favorite Destin/Grayton Beach area dining options.

Stinky’s Fish Camp

Yeah, right. Who would eat at a place named Stinky’s? Us and thousands of others. It is fabulous! Great food, great service and great prices. It gets a little crowded during the busy season but they are a polished act.

Surf & Turf Po-Boy Half fried shrimp and half their NOLA Po-boy which is ham, debris (roast beef and gravy) and provolone

Hurricane’s Oyster Bar

A surprise for us. On a whim we stopped in just as they were opening for lunch. Jimmie Kay had the Fried green tomatoes and said they were the absolute best she had ever eaten. I had the Blue Plate Special. Meat Loaf, Mashed Taters and Corn. Delicious and the special was under $8. Great lunch, but needed a nap after this meal!

Kitchenique Cooking School

I have to add a disclaimer to this. The director of the school, Vicki, and I have been friends for almost 50 years. We both grew up in New Orleans which has given both of us our love for good food. She had been in the Destin area for about 30 years. She has intimate knowledge of the Destin area chefs and frequently has them teach some of her classes. Her cooking school is listed on Travel Advisor as one of the top Destin area attractions. While we were in the area, we did one of her classes. Her typical class is a full menu which the chef shows you how to prepare and cooks it in front of you. You are given full recipes and after the items are cooked, you then get to enjoy them.

As an aside, to show even better what Vicki can do, she had us over to her house for some home cooking. While I haven’t seen this on her class menu, you can see that she can cook! You would love taking her classes.
